Appreciation Dinner for a Special Friend, Dr. Yaacob Ibrahim

On 4 July 2018, more than 150 guests from the tech industry came together for an appreciation dinner in honour of a very special friend, Dr. Yaacob Ibrahim, who has retired from his ministerial role earlier this year.

Having served as the Minister for Communications and Information since 2011, Dr. Yaacob had always been a strong advocate for Tech. SGTech is appreciative of Dr. Yaacob’s sincere interest in partnering with the association, who has always been very supportive of our proposals and initiatives. His strong leadership has helped shaped many critical initiatives for our nation.

Sincere, humble, friendly and approachable
– these are just some adjectives being used to describe Dr. Yaacob. Laughter and applauses could be heard as our guests recounted fond memories they had with him.

In honour of the retired Minister, SGTech presented Dr. Yaacob with a book in recognition of his many years of service and support to SGTech (SiTF), aptly titled A Collection of Gratitude. In his farewell speech, Dr. Yaacob thanked the guests in attendance for their kind words.

“It’s not the world of one man, it’s the contribution and collaboration that we’ve done together the last 7 years that made it possible for us to grow the industry,” said a humbled Dr. Yaacob.

SGTech once again thanks Dr. Yaacob Ibrahim for being special friend to the industry and wishes him the very best for his future endeavours.
