Digital Opportunities in Qatar

On 3 December 2020, SGTech invited partners to share about the opportunities in Qatar.  

Qatar Financial Centre provided an overview of the Qatari economy. Also, Ooredoo shared examples of how companies can take part in Qatar’s digital transformation. Crimson Logic discussed insights on their business expansion journey, while Enterprise Singapore presented on the assistance for internationalisation by companies.

Ms Abby Chan, Vice President (Business Development) at Qatar Financial Centre, shared that Qatar is one of the world’s wealthiest energy-producing nations. With the rapid adoption of digital technologies, excellent infrastructure, stable economy and business-friendly environment, Qatar is positioning itself as a destination for digital innovation and growth.



Mr Vladislav-Constantin Vlaicu, Senior Manager (ICT Industry and Business Development) at Ooredoo Qatar, shared about the Qatar Smart Programme (TASMU) to accelerate and achieve Qatar's 2030 National Vision. TASMU focuses on five key economic sectors of Transportation, Logistics, Healthcare, Environment and Sports.

 

 

Mr Saw Ken Wye, CEO of Crimson Logic, shared the rationale behind the company's venture into the region and highlighted tips on working with the locals. 

Ms Adriana Tan, (Development Partner) at Enterprise Singapore, presented various assistance to support Singapore companies on their overseas ventures. Some of the financial aid include grants to defray initial setup costs and accelerate their expansion plans. There is also non-financial assistance, such as networking platforms and talent development schemes for companies.
